POP UP CREATORS: SPOTLIGHT ON DARJA RATTIK
Katie Harnett, illustrator and mentor, says the following:
“Darja had a clear idea of the story she wanted to tell quite early on in the process, and she then worked incredibly hard to make the best possible version. She worked through several rough versions, to make sure that she was telling the story in the clearest way, using the form to its fullest, and creating interesting compositions. Although Darja had created some really fantastic experiments with traditional media, she decided to colour the artwork digitally, as this is where her skills are strongest. . . . "
"Leshenya & The boy" is a 7-page visual story tells about a friendship between two children completely different in looks: a human boy and a mythological creature named Leshenya. In the beginning, both characters are startled by each other in the forest but they overcome the fear and spend a day playing together in the forest.
